Life After Cancer: Running for Awareness and Advocacy
This April, we—Abbie and Jacqui—are taking on the London Landmarks Half Marathon together to raise funds for Target Ovarian Cancer, a cause that is incredibly close to our hearts. For us, this is more than just a race; it’s a celebration of resilience, hope, and the power of self-advocacy.
A few years ago, Abbie was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at a young age—a life-altering experience that shook us as a family and brought life-long challenges, including early menopause and infertility. But here we are today, grateful to be post-treatment and able to share our journey. Last year, we ran two half marathons together, and now we’re back for more—raising funds, honouring those impacted by cancer, and finding strength in every step.
This journey isn’t just personal; it’s a call to action. Ovarian cancer, like many other female health issues, often goes unnoticed until it’s advanced and we want to change that. Through this fundraising effort, we’re sharing our story to raise awareness of the symptoms and encourage everyone to be their own health advocate. It doesn’t matter your age, gender, race, or background—if something doesn’t feel right, push your GP for answers. Your health matters and speaking up can save your life.
