Why I’m fundraising...
7 years ago, I lost my mum to an aggressive form of ovarian cancer, she was 62 years old and, after raising 4 children whilst working as a teaching assistant, she was looking forward to winding down and preparing to become a Grandmother. Her future though, was cut short when she was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer. What followed was an extremely difficult 2 years of chemotherapy and treatment to give her as much time as possible, and despite never giving up and showing exceptional bravery throughout it was a fight she was unable to win.Mum's story is far too common but one that can be changed for other women and families who face this terrible illness.
Next April I'll be taking part in the London Marathon to raise awareness and funds in aid of Target Ovarian Cancer, the UK's leading ovarian cancer charity. They target what’s important to stop ovarian cancer devastating lives – that means symptom awareness, life-saving early diagnosis, better treatments and support for everyone affected by ovarian cancer.
Any support you can give will make a huge difference to help change the outcome for so many people that are impacted by this heart-breaking illness and give more women a fighting chance at overcoming ovarian cancer.
