Why I’m fundraising...
I was in a very low place last year- I was unhappy in my job, struggling through bad mental health and a difficult break up. I felt stuck.
Last August I had a complete change of mindset. I was discussing my options with my mum and her friends when Beverley said,
“Zoe, if I could go back and stop anything that didn’t make me happy, I would.”
Her words stuck with me. I then went on to quit my job, went sober, started running in the December and also launched my own business in the New Year.
I’ve created a life which has given me so much freedom. I now aim to do things which make me happy. I owe Beverley a great deal of thanks for that.
At the time, Beverley, who was giving the pep talk, had been diagnosed with terminal Ovarian cancer and sadly passed away in January 2025. The same disease that took my nan, Sheila, who died at 55.
I’m taking part in the London Marathon 2026, for Beverley, Sheila and all the other women who left us too young.
I’ll be raising funds and awareness in aid of Target Ovarian Cancer, the UK's leading ovarian cancer charity.
Target Ovarian Cancer focus on what’s important to stop ovarian cancer devastating lives – that means symptoms awareness, life-saving early diagnosis, better treatments and support for everyone affected by ovarian cancer.
Please support my fundraising, and together we’ll transform the future for everyone diagnosed with ovarian cancer.
