Why I’m fundraising...

At the age of 79, my grandma was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She went through 7 cycles of chemotherapy, with surgery in between, and was given the all clear in 2020, just after her 84th birthday. Grandma is grateful every day for the skill of her surgeon and the power of prayer :)

She had been to the GP and A&E a number of times regarding the pain in her abdomen, but her symptoms were not recognised in the early stages and her diagnosis came at the end of a series of tests and biopsies, over many months. However, she was still lucky. 

The sooner ovarian cancer is detected, the easier it is to treat, but 1 in 5 women diagnosed are already too ill to receive treatment.

£20 could give 20 women the right symptom information, making sure they access support as early as possible, or help someone receive advice and information they can trust, through a support line, so this is a life changing amount. 

Just £7 can provide a GP with update training on ovarian cancer and the best practice for early diagnosis, so please give this if you can.

I would love to raise more than £250, because this amount funds a day of life-saving research.

Please help me support Target Ovarian Cancer to improve diagnosis, discover better and kinder treatments and one day, find a cure.
