Why I’m fundraising...
I’m taking part in the London Marathon 2027 to raise funds and awareness in aid of Target Ovarian Cancer, the UK's leading ovarian cancer charity. They target what’s important to stop ovarian cancer devastating lives – that means symptoms awareness, life-saving early diagnosis, better treatments and support for everyone affected by ovarian cancer.
Cancer is a cruel disease, one that many people are faced with either directly or indirectly. In September 2023, we sadly lost our Auntie Bridget to Ovarian Cancer and we remember her so fondly. This year, my Sister was diagnosed with breast cancer and is bravely undergoing treatment, inspiring us every single day.
Both Auntie Bridget and my Sister carry the BRCA-1 gene. On top of amazing training of GPs, nurse-led helplines and crucial research, Target Ovarian Cancer also does vital work funding research and supporting campaigns for genetic BRCA testing and clinical improvements - work that makes such a difference to so many families.
