Why I’m fundraising...
I’m running the Royal Parks Half Marathon for Target Ovarian Cancer this October. I've been working at the charity for 7 years, so I've seen first-hand the difference that we make, and why our work is so important.
Currently, ovarian cancer is diagnosed so late that 1 in 5 women are already too ill to receive any treatment, and 1 in 7 women die within two months of their diagnosis. However, if diagnosed at the earliest stage, 9 in 10 women will survive.
Target Ovarian Cancer works to stop ovarian cancer devastating lives, by: raising awareness of the symptoms with the public; working closely with GPs and health professionals to improve their understanding of ovarian cancer and best practice for early diagnosis; funding research into kinder and more effective treatments; campaigning for change to ovarian cancer treatment and diagnosis; and providing vital support to anyone and everyone affected by ovarian cancer.
I'm very grateful for anything you can give to support my fundraising:
£7 could provide training for one GP to update their knowledge of ovarian cancer symptoms.
£17 could fund one call to our support line.
£35 could fund one hour of ground-breaking medical research.
£50 could provide 50 people with our symptoms information leaflets, making sure they know when to visit the GP.
