Why I’m fundraising...
I’m taking part in the Brighton Marathon 2026 to raise funds and awareness in aid of Target Ovarian Cancer, the UK's leading ovarian cancer charity. They target what’s important to stop ovarian cancer devastating lives – that means symptoms awareness, life-saving early diagnosis, better treatments and support for everyone affected by ovarian cancer.
I am running in aid of Target Ovarian Cancer as my mum has recently been diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer. This was after a long and traumatic diagnosis process due to a number of complications. She is now undergoing chemotherapy and showing remarkable strength and positivity. I really am in awe of her!! For this reason I would like to challenge myself to run the Brighton Marathon for a great cause, funding research for a lesser known form of cancer.
Ovarian Cancer is sometimes considered a silent cancer, as it is often misdiagnosed as other, more common medical conditions. This means diagnosis is often once it has reached later stages and is then potentially more difficult to treat.
