For the girlies and their ovaries!
Hey all! It’s aqsa hereeeee and I would like to very kindly ask you to donate (any spare pennies and pounds) to my fundraiser!
This will be my second half marathon, hopefully a more fun experience than the last. I’m running to raise funds and awareness in aid of Target Ovarian Cancer, the UK's leading ovarian cancer charity.
But before you get bored reading through this, I just want to remind you all that Ovarian cancer is one of the deadliest cancer diagnosis, many women are misdiagnosed as having IBS or other conditions. Which often leaves women addressing their prognosis much later than they should have. It’s a forgotten cancer diagnosis and one which has a catastrophic effect on so many people’s lives.
Contrary to popular belief, ovarian cancer affects people at any life stage. I myself was diagnosed at 21 and had never imagined that I’d be facing cancer surgeries in September of 2020. A cancer diagnosis is a pretty harsh reminder of your mortality in your early twenties and I was one of the lucky ones. I’m running this race for all cancer patients ones with us and ones not, as a reminder of what our bodies can do and what we can do for future cancer patients.
So many of you have been affected by a loved one or you yourself dealing with cancer and any pound and penny goes to helping people with their diagnosis and scientists with a cure!
So if the idea of me limping after a half marathon or red faced and puffing through 13 miles brings you any type of joy, then donate. Even if it doesn’t bring you any joy, I take pity pounds and pennies too!
