Why we're fundraising...
Target Ovarian Cancer is the UK's leading ovarian cancer charity working to improve early diagnosis, fund life-saving research and provide support to women with ovarian cancer. The UK has one of the worst ovarian cancer survival rates in Europe, with one woman dying every 2 hours from the disease.
We are taking part in this event as Ryan's sister, who lives in Australia, has recently undergone treatment for Ovarian cancer at the age of just 33. This has had devastating consequences for her and her loved ones, but she has been incredibly inspiring throughout the gruelling treatment and is now a hero ambassador for Ovarian Cancer Australia., sharing her story to help others. Kate's Team are taking part in a fund raising event in Australia and we would like to support the UK equivalent.
Awareness of Ovarian cancer is low, its share of UK research funding has dropped and three quarters of women with ovarian cancer say they do not get the support they need. Together we can make sure women in the UK have the best chance of survival and get the right support at the right time, in a way that's right for them.
