Why I'm fundraising...
I was diagnosed with stage 3c ovarian cancer in October 2023. I had been getting more and more sick with symptoms like ascites (which makes you very bloated), back pain and chronic diarrhoea and didn't know what was wrong with me. The diagnosis was a huge shock – there’s very little history of cancer in my family and I don’t have the BRCA gene mutation.
I have since completed 2 drains of the ascites, 18 doses of chemotherapy, had a major operation and dealt with the side effects of the chemo, namely chronic tiredness, blood clots and needing a blood transfusion and basically just trying to feel half decent again. I'm on post chemo treatment until next March and then it's test, hope and pray.
That’s why I’m taking part in the Ovar-Dressed Walk|Run – to help fund life-saving research.
