A million excuses to not run today

Saturday 17th Oct
Had a million excuses to not run this morning, drove the ungrateful child all the way to Leeds and could have easily just sat here and waited but I made myself set off- I even got caught up at the back end of a park run which was quite awkward 😵‍💫 I’m not a runner - I hate running - but I’m doing it for a really really good reason and that’s what got me out 👊🏼

Why I'm fundraising 💜

Wednesday 7th Oct

I'm running the London Marathon 2027 for Target Ovarian Cancer, a charity that means so much to me and my family.

My Grandma sadly lost her life to ovarian cancer. Her diagnosis was missed until it was too late, leaving our family devastated. Target Ovarian Cancer were incredible, supporting not only my Grandma but also my Grandad, even after she passed away. I'll always be grateful for the difference they made to our family.

I've previously fundraised for Target Ovarian Cancer through the Great Manchester Run and the London Landmarks Half Marathon, with my Grandad being my biggest supporter. He always used to tell me that one day he'd see me on the telly running the marathon.

Sadly, he won't be here to watch me cross that finish line, but I know how proud he'd have been. Both my Grandma and Grandad loved watching the London Marathon, so this one's for you, Grandad. ❤️

Next year I turn 40, and what better way to celebrate than by running 26.2 miles?! I'm certainly not a natural runner, and having never tackled a full marathon, this is going to be a huge mental and physical challenge. But I can't think of a more meaningful reason to push myself.

I'm aiming to raise £3,000 for Target Ovarian Cancer, helping them continue their vital work supporting families, raising awareness of symptoms and campaigning for earlier diagnosis.

Every donation, no matter how small, will help make a difference. If you can spare a few pounds, I'd be so grateful — and if you can't donate, sharing my page would mean just as much.

Thank you for supporting me and helping me do this for two very special people. It means more than you know. 💜

Now… somebody remind me of all this when I'm questioning my life choices at mile 20! 🤣
