Two weeks before the event, my first choice of costume was a fabulous, oversized, inflatable dinosaur borrowed from a neighbour. 🦖 It definitely fitted the Ovar-Dressed theme and appealed to my sense of the ridiculous! But then I got cold feet...
After Jo and Nick borrowed rabbit costumes from friends, my inventive niece and nephew suggested we go as a magician and her bunnies. Genius, team Ovar-the-Top was born!
On Sunday 27 September, we met in London's Regent's Park on a gorgeous, sunny autumn day! ☀️ Over 150 people affected by ovarian cancer came together to raise awareness and funds for Target Ovarian Cancer. 💙
I am so incredibly grateful to this wonderful charity, for their support when I was first diagnosed last winter, and for their ongoing funding of our peer support groups. It means so much to meet, share difficult experiences, and also to have a laugh with women who just get it.
Four of Team Ovar-the-Top ran a 5km. I took on a volunteer role registering runners and walkers, then joined the charity staff in cheering everyone on as they approached the finish line. It was a fun, and emotional day. Thank you to Jo, and Nick, and my niece and nephew for all your support. Importantly, thank you to all of you for sponsoring us, and Target Ovarian Cancer.

Why we're fundraising...
Target Ovarian Cancer is the UK's leading ovarian cancer charity working to improve early diagnosis, fund life-saving research & provide support to women, like me, with ovarian cancer.
Awareness of ovarian cancer is low, its share of UK research funding has dropped & three quarters of women with ovarian cancer say they do not get the support they need.
Together we can make sure women in the UK have the best chances of survival & get the right support at the right time, in a way that's right for them.
Target Ovarian Cancer's Coffee & Chat meet-up gave me a much-needed refuge when I was diagnosed at the end of 2025. The charity has continued to offer support through a peer support group, which gives me & other women connection, friendship, & hope 💜 🩵
I'm doing this walk with family as a fun way to fundraise for this wonderful organisation, to say thank you & to ensure that women continue to receive the support they need. Please, if you can, consider popping £1 or two sponsorship to help a charity that hugely benefits so many women.
