London Marathon 2025 - Target Ovarian Cancer 💜
Hey everyone,
My sister and I will be running The London Marathon this year for Team Target Ovarian Cancer in memory of our incredible Nana, who sadly passed away of ovarian cancer in May last year.
Nana was not only a pillar of strength in our family but also a source of endless love, warmth, and kindness. This is our way of honoring her memory and contributing to a cause that is close to our hearts.
Ovarian cancer is a devastating disease that affects thousands of women and families every year. In the UK alone, around 7,500 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer annually, and tragically, over 4,000 women lose their lives to the disease each year. It is the sixth most common cancer in women, yet awareness of the symptoms remains alarmingly low. Symptoms such as persistent bloating, abdominal pain, and difficulty eating can often be mistaken for less serious conditions, which leads to late diagnoses and reduces the chances of successful treatment.
This is why the work of ovarian cancer charities is so crucial. The funds raised help to:
- Support women and families: Providing essential resources and guidance during incredibly challenging times.
- Drive vital research: Advancing early detection methods, improving treatments, and ultimately saving lives.
- Spread awareness: Educating people about the symptoms and the importance of early diagnosis, giving women the best chance of survival.
By running this race, we hope not only to raise funds but also to spread awareness about ovarian cancer and the amazing work being done to fight it. Every donation, big or small, brings us one step closer to a world where no family has to lose a loved one to this terrible disease.
