Why we're fundraising...

In January 2024, symptoms started and gradually got worse, encouraging my Mum to get to the GP. After some tests and scans, results showed a raise in her CA125 levels and a cyst the size of a football on her ovary. Surgery was needed and within three weeks, the tumour was removed and it was confirmed to be an Ovarian Cancer. After 3 months of misdiagnosis’s of different types of tumours, it was diagnosed as a high grade endometrial carcinoma meaning she needed 6 rounds of chemotherapy. Chemo started in May and finished in August. After 4 very hard months, Mum had a CT scan confirming she has the all clear. We are so lucky that Mum was able to beat this cancer, and the support and research charities can provide is incredible. 

Target Ovarian Cancer is one close to our hearts which is why we are taking part in the London Landmarks Half Marathon, wanting to raise as much money as possible for this amazing charity.

Awareness of ovarian cancer is low, its share of UK research funding has dropped and three quarters of women with ovarian cancer say they do not get the support they need.
