In Memory of Milly Thumbwood

By Daniel Mackiewicz

Doing this to raise awareness for everyone who has been affected by this....

I am running in memory of my grandma Milly Thumbwood, who unfortunately lost her short battle with ovarian cancer. She was diagnosed in March 2023, and died in May 2023.

How can I describe my grandma she was loving, caring and from the moment she was diagnosed til the day she died she showed strength and determination to fight this.

Awareness of ovarian cancer is low, its share of UK research funding has dropped and three quarters of women with ovarian cancer say they do not get the support they need.

This is what has drove me to sign up and complete the Robin Hood Half Marathon. I might not be the fittest ,but I'm going to take inspiration from my grandma who never complained once , and battled on no matter. I know she will be with me every step of the way as I aim to complete the run.

Raise awareness. Fund research. Save lives.
